Key Research Activities

Design Process

I examined the design process from start to finish, ensuring the game was both engaging and suitable for young players. This included multiple rounds of brainstorming, sketching, and prototype development to refine the user interface and gameplay.

Game Mechanics

GroupeA key finding was the importance of pacing in puzzles, making sure they were neither too easy nor too difficult for young players. We also realized that small interactive tasks, such as collecting light orbs and solving simple puzzles, kept players engaged while encouraging exploration.

level Design

Our approach to level design was heavily influenced by user testing. We created levels that allowed players to progress gradually, ensuring that each puzzle was appropriate for the developmental stage of children aged 4+.

Making

BTS

Building “Little Lights” wasn’t just about making it look pretty—it was about making the gameplay enjoyable and meaningful for the users. Minimalism in design played a key role, as it allowed us to focus on the essential elements that mattered most to the players.

While the game’s aesthetic was visually attractive, we focused on usability by providing relevant, actionable insights at the right time. For example, we designed helpful hints to guide players when they seemed stuck but without interrupting the flow of the game.

User Testing

User testing was a critical phase in refining the game. During this phase, we received significant feedback on how children interacted with the game, particularly with the difficulty level of puzzles and the ease of navigation.
